The 2011 GMC Acadia has received a Top Safety Pick from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety for all of the models built after January 2011. The 2011 Acadia made the list due to its’ extraordinary safety features and complete package of an all around great SUV.
To earn the designation of a Top Safety Pick from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety a vehicle must achieve the highest possible ratings of ‘Good’ in front, side, rear and rollover crash protection tests. All vehicles that are tested must have electronic stability control as well.
The GMC Acadia has earned a five-star overall vehicle score from the New Car Assessment Program that was put into place by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration previously, before the IIHS tests.
GMC has shown its commitment to safety with the 2011 Acadia and all of the features that have been included in it. The SUV comes with rollover sensitivity so the car can prepare for a rollover as well as front seat safety belt pretensioners. Six standard airbags including dual-stage frontal air bags for the driver and passenger, two seat-mounted side-impact air bags in the first row and two head curtain side air bags that are in all three seating rows. OnStar comes standard in all GMC vehicles which includes Automatic Crash Response that will notify first responders in the event of a collision.
